I started a discussion on the ffcobra.com forum asking opinions on Benelli vs Remington and got lots of good advice. I was just wondering if there are any experienced duck hunters here yet? I know the membership is new and growing so might be a slim chance. This will be my first year hunting and I'm learning all I can before I get out there. We just finished a 4' X 16' blind that is perched 4' in the air waiting for the water to come in. It is nestled in a patch of willows, we'll have to walk through a couple hundred yards of 3' deep water to get to it :D Should be lots of fun. If you have any advice for the new guy let me know. I'm listening.

Duck hunting involves being cold... Therefore, a no-go for me!

Now, I have buddies that duck hunt, and one of my favorite things to do is go watch him work his dog... That's something that's truly amazing.

As a general rule of thumb, I'm a huge Remington fan, and not so much a Benelli fan... But as to your application, since I don't duck hunt, I couldn't tell ya. Anymore, the only thing I hunt is round, orange, and you decide when it flushes! :D

Cold... yes :D I'm ordering 1600 thinsulate waders that should keep me pretty warm, we'll have a propane heater as well... I sure hope it is enough! My dad is a Remington guy but Benelli seems to be the preferred brand for duck hunters in my area. Not sure why. Might be because they are a bit cheaper and the base model can shoot magnum. I'm sticking to the lower end pump shotguns for now.

Quail and Pheasant yes, ducks no. My wallet dictates that I'm a Remington fan. With more money I'd be a Benelli guy. 12ga auto, five in the magazine.

"I'll say it again, I didn't mean to shoot the dog, he jumped in front of me."
