Book case with cabinet

Here is a project I made for a small portion of my wife's cookbooks. It is made of southern white pine and has a satin sprayed lacquer finish.

that looks great - I'm building something almost identical for my daughter, but it will be painted white for her room.

One question, on the hinges for the doors, did you have to notch out the door for the hinge?
