Gather 'round... It's horrible-quality picture time!

No, this is not my house... It's a house that my dad built a few years back, and the last house that I worked with him on, before switching gears and moving into the IT world. I thought this would be a fairly appropriate house to show off, because of the detail in the woodwork.

First up, is my favorite spot in the house: The master bedroom. The windows may not look extraordinary, but the jamb extensions were no cake walk! I just love the view!

Still in the master bedroom, is their shelving, which is all cherry.

Next, I'll move you to the kitchen. There's something about this space that is very welcoming. The space is very functional, and is very well used now.

And last of the pictures I currently have, is the living room. Another awesome space! The first pic shows how the kitchen adjoins the living room.

The opposite wall/ceiling. Ceiling is fir.

Sorry about the pictures being in the construction phase, but I have to go back out there sometime to return a book. I also want to take some good pictures of things like the breezeway which has Ipe flooring, fir-wrapped posts, and a fir ceiling. I would also like to get pictures of the finished living room and kitchen... Believe me, it looks like something out of a magazine!

Very Nice...what kind of countertops are those in the kitchen? They look so uniform in color, I would be tempted to guess cement.

You're giving the ol' memory a jog... I believe those were some form of granite. Now, the guy's sister's house, who we did a few years ago was one of the first houses in the tri-state that had cement countertops.

Wow, Lee. That's some work. I love the elevated bedroom and the large window, I bet it is really something when the trees are green. You guys had to be proud of it.

I'm very proud of all three houses that we built for that family. Well, we built two for the two children, and did a seven-year bed/bath addition to the parents! I'll have to get some pics of the parents bedroom... I actually was working for the architect that designed it at the time, while dad was doing the addition.

Very well done. With all that trim work I can only guess how many weeks it took to do. The glass in the first picture, is it tempered glass?

It's like a 4-layer safety glass, so yeah, I guess it would be tempered. Those were probably some of the heaviest windows I've ever had to set! :(

Absolutely AMAZING!
I love the use of natural materials! The wood is incredible,...the windows,..the drop soffits to help define spaces. You study architecture?
Lord,...we are in the beginnings of remodelling our mountain place DIY.
Any chance you wanna come out and help??? :-) :-)
If I knew how to do 1/2 that stuff!! And whats worse is I will probably try anyway with only "theory" knowledge,......wonder how many projects I will end up having to "hire" to undo my messes?

Truly inspirational!

Dr. Jim

Break it down into steps, I'm sure these guys would be willing to offer ideas, sketches and knowledge. There are some real talented guys (and gal) here already.

you needn't apologize for picture quality or construction site. The woodwork is gorgeous. Awesome job!

Thanks for the kind words.

Dr. Jim, Don's right... You've got to break it down into steps. And I'm sure the guys (& gal(s)) here would be glad to help!
