I'm just an amateur with limited tools, but I do what I can. I plan on doing a lot more woodworking in the future, so I hope you can all help me get past the hurtles.

Here is one of my first projects. Sorry for the poor picture quality.

I built these stands out of scrap rosewood from my hardwood flooring. The post is actually made of four 1" by 1" scraps from the stair treads. There is a 3/8" by 3/8" hollow down the middle of the post for the wire to get down to the base. The base is made of birch veneered plywood and skirted with the same rosewood scraps. They are finished with a few coats of spar urethane.

Simple but effective.

Nice work! Great use of scrap material without giving away that it was scrap.

Looks nice. I'd be interested to see the details on the base. I too am getting ready to do some form of a stand for my rear channels.

Also, how does the base sit on the floor? It looks as though the stands are on the hardwood, so spikes may not be your best friend, but some form of a rubber spike or isolation pad may help out... Something like these: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=260-773

Looks very good. Love rosewood. Agree with the others, darn good use of scrap material.

Thanks for the good words!!!

The base actually has .75" dia felt pads in each corner to prevent scratching the floor and acoustic vibration.

I just made a quick sketch to show a section cut from side to side down the center of the entire stand. At the top, there is a piece of oak that is keyed into the post from the back side. I just used two 1/4" wood screws through the oak into the speaker since the speaker doesn't have any threaded inserts for mounting. The oak block just fits by friction to keep from backing out, but holds the speaker to the post tightly without being able to see anything from the front.

You can't throw out any rosewood scraps, great use of materials. I need to make some time to do some of this stuff again. You guys are making me jealous.

:D A bit less obtrusive than my suggestion, and offers the same effects! :D
