I'm just looking for the best online deals for buying nutserts, or threaded/barbed inserts, whatever you would like to call them. Something similar to this: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=081-1094

They will be used primarily in MDF (the most common "wood" I use), and will not require incredible amount of hold strength. However, I'd like to spend a bit less on these, than the posted PE price above.

I was gonna suggest PE as that is my main source and they seem to be the cheapest on most things, not sure of a cheaper source.

In a pinch, I get them at WoodCraft as well... They guys behind the counter got a kick when I told them that they were cheaper than Fastenal. Their response was, "You mean to tell me that WE are cheaper than somebody?" :D I believe I can get a pack of 15 for just under $3, which isn't bad at all, if you look at the Home Depot or Lowes prices!

PE is a great place for these things. I just didn't know if there were cheaper places out there.

Hey, Guys, I can't speak for the price comparisons, but I've used McMaster for all of my "unusual" fastener needs for years, they can be a little pricey on some stuff. I'm in Jacksonville and they have a branch in Atlanta, if I order by 4pm I have it in my hands the next day. Their customer service is legendary. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Here is a link to the wood inserts, compare the prices yourself and post back. The links to their pages don't seem to work like I wanted to, go to the site and type in "inserts for wood" in the search box.

Thanks for the link Don! I've never been to that site, but it has a wealth of information, it appears! Prices are a bit high, but if I can order more than one thing at a time, and not have to have "stuff" shipped in from all over the country, it'd be worth it to me... That's the main reason I use PE... I usually have something coming in from them anyway, or at least it's an excuse to order something! :D
