Hey, Guys. I've been busy lately making a mantle surround for a customer here at the plant. Here are some pictures.

First, make some sketches

Clamp up some cherry lumber

This molding had to be hand "doctored" at the joints to make the pattern at the mitres correct

Thanks, JC. Sometimes I feel that old; around here anyway. No, It's amazing what you can find in old millwork houses. These guys have some knives for the old square head molders and shapers, something that I've always heard was outlawed - they are just too dangerous. Definitely from another time.
