Hello folks, Im working on a pine wall unit that is about 80" wide and 87" tall, the bottom 36" are 18" deep and are capped by a 3/4" top that the upper cabinets sit on (they are 12" deep). I am going to apply some Classic style trim under the lower cabinets top. There will also be base trim using the same Classic style. I have design some heavy top "crown" moulding to mimic the rest of the trim and are looking for opinions on it. The reason I have decided not to use store bought crown moulding is because the cabinets are ceiling height but the ceiling is false tile, there for there is nothing to attach it too.

Any and all opinions are greatly appreciated

Hey, AMF. I don't see anything that causes me concern with your design sections. One thing that I like to do with a design like this is to make the center section of the bookcase a bit deeper or shallower, (you don't need much, a 1/2" will do the trick) this allows you to "turn" the crown in or out and makes for a bit more interesting design on the pediment. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do and share pictures along the way.

all the best, Don
