Hey Guys:

I am making a large frame for a poster that we got at a John Fogetry Concery this year. The frame is made of Tiger Wood and in the middle is Paduka, which is a red hard wood. My problem is the red dust from the Paduka is getting into the open pores of the Tiger Wood while sanding. I plan on using a wiping oil as a finish and do not want red tinted Tiger Wood. I tried cleaning with Laquer Thinner but it did not remove the red dust from inside the pores of the Tiger Wood. So, what do I do when I am finished sanding to get all the red dust out of the Tiger Wood before finishing with 3-4 coats of finish?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions and take care

Hey, Dan. I would think that if all is dry enough that some high pressure air would blow your project clean after sanding. If there is some dampness or oily residue that is staining then I'm at a loss since you want to use oil. If you were using a hard finish then you could possibly seal the light colored areas with thinned shellac.

Anybody else?

Hey Don:

Great idea!

I will resand tomorrow and then hit it with my air hose..

Man, that Tiger Wood is HARD! I thought something was wrong with my new table saw an dthen cut some Walnut and it was just fine!

Anyway, thanks for the input and I will take some photos tomorrow and post as I go along or when I get done.

Take care

Then after blowing it off with your air hose, spray a light mist
of Endust on a clean shop rag and wipe it down.
You'll be amazed at the dust it will pull out.
I do this before any finishing, or car painting.
Endust has no waxes or silicones and leaves no residue.
It also take all the static out.
Try it and you'll be impressed:)

Hey JCClark:

So, Endust will not leave any type of residue at all?

This is a great hint and thanks for the assist.

Take care
