I got tipped off to this forum while on www.ffcobra.com. Looks like a great start. I've been woodworking for more than 20 years now, build furniture, custom speaker enclosures, and dabble in remodeling and cabinetry. I haven't done much lately as I've been pretty busy and intend to build a woodshop soon. Hopefully that will happen this spring.

Hey, Dagster. Thanks for joining. We've bumped into each other on ffcobra, I like your avatar.

Looks like you've done a lot of stuff. What kind of shop are you planning to build?

The shop will be a story and a half 24' X 38' or slightly larger.

It will be primarily for woodworking but may have a 4 post lift for the cobra when that time comes. The apartment above will be for my wife and her crafts etc... I just need to get off my butt and build it. I've been procrastinating since I'll basically be building a small home. The septic, electrictiy, gas, and water paperwork and decisions are the tough ones for me. Doing the actual work is the easy part.

I'm also in the process of building a CNC router table. I have nearly all my parts, just need a few more. It will be used for wood as well as metal cutting. Should be a fun project if I can settle down long enough to conentrate on one thing at a time.

Hey, I tried adding an avatar but there is no option other than "no avatar", is that on purpose?

Hey, Darren. What a project. Looks like a great place to live when it gets done.

I hear you about the bureaucratic compost that one has to go through, building usually is the easiest part of all of it.

I love CNC stuff and would like to have anything robotic. I did get a sign cutting plotter and I say that is the first piece of CNC equipment for my little company, ;-)

The avatar issue is a little different than FFcobra, you have a choice of no avatar or a custom one that you must upload or link to. The box is in your userCP, control panel.

I see the Edit Avatar section and it does indeed have a box but no way to either upload, link to, or set the avatar as far as I can see.

Hey, Zulu, Welcome to the forum, thanks for joining.

Dagster, I'll have to check admin, I think I read somewhere you didn't get the "privilege" until after 10 posts. We'll figure it out.

Dagster -

Is your avitar one of the speakers you built? Very nice looking work. I design and build loudspeakers as well. In fact, it's kind of how I got into wood working.

Now that the Cobra's almost done, I'm designing a sub for the home theater.

Yes, that is one of the speakers I have built. My website has a few more. I've also built many subwoofers. My current subwoofer is an Infinite Baffle with four 15" RLP-15 drivers. It shakes the dishes out of the cabinets :D More details about that on my site as well.

I don't design speakers but I build higher end enclosures. I used to do it as a side business but time became an issue and I only do it for friends and fun now.

I love hand rubbed finish on walnut. Below is a picture of the matching surrounds for the main speaker in my avatar. The veneer on the top is running front to back as a preference of most customers... I prefer side to side to stay in keeping with how an actual box might be assembled.
