Gun stocks

Has anyone here ever made a gun stock? I have a big walnut board 3" x 8" x 6'. I am REALLY wanting to make a stock for my .22 remington. Any advice where to start?

Gunstock work is some of the most challenging woodwork to be done. I'd start by looking for a good book or two on the subject. I've modified, but never made one from scratch. Good luck and let us know how you proceed.
