I put 4 coats of finish on the top & bottom & the vise jaws.
Finished & usable. I built base to add cabinets under it later.
May need to use coasters for my beer.
Looks to good to use.
I may add some round dog holes on the small vise end but I can add them if I need to.
Not near the skill of other projects from most of you guys but I did learn quit a bit
in the process. Now that I have a bench & table saw, I should
probably make something. Maybe a router table for the next project.

Bogydave...

Man, that turned out just fantastic! Plus you had the chance to use some wood from your Dad.. How cool is that?
I wouldn't worry too much about measuring up in the talent area with the other guys as this is a true work of art!
Take care

Very nice job!! I cant wait to finish mine. Getting close, but not quite their yet. I have finished the base and still need to flatten the top. Couple questions:
1. How did you flatten your top?
2. How thick is the actual top?
3. How long did it take to complete?

OK, more than a couple questions.

I purchased the same end vise. Any issues with install? I understand it can be tricky, but supposedly if you follow the instructions very carefully, it's no problem.

Thanks and GREAT JOB!:)

Thanks
Top was built in 3 pcs, planed, then after glued together, I found a local cabinet shop with a 40" wide sander. You can see it in previous posts, Workbench step 6, plane & fit top, in members projects

2-5/16" thick top

Off & on time but probably about 2 weeks if time worked on it was added up. Some glue dry time, ordering glue & vises & learning curve made it take longer.

Instructions for the vise are pretty good & straight forward. You can download instructions from leevalley also.
