Looking to buy a dado set. Any recomendations?
about $250, for the freud dial a width.

About $200 for the freud super dado 8"
$275 for Forrest dado king 8".

Have never used a dado set that you had to "dial" in. Sorry can't help much in that regard.
Just don't get one of the wobble kind; used one once, and promised myself would never use another.

That's what I have, the wobble type, craftsman.
After reading info on this forum I realized I need a (different) good one.
Just didn't know they were going to be so $spendy. The Freud one, " 8" dial a width" I think, is a fairly new option in dadoes.

I can't say one way or the other, I'd like to see it in person before buying such a beast though. I've used the wobble ones and like Terry said, used it once and retired it to rough cut duty.
I currently use a Freud 8" stacked dado set with shims.

I have the Freud Dial a Width and really like it. The blades and chippers are very accurate. The dialing in for a good fit works really well. By using scraps from the stock you will be using for the finished project, you can get tight fitting dadoes.
