I got a 3" Ryobi bandsaw for christmas. It's a great saw, if you're cutting thin wood. If you cut anything around 2" thick and thicker, the blade tracks to the right. I looked in the manual for an adjustment, no luck. Is something wrong with my saw? Is something wrong with me? Cheap blade? I'm getting frustrated with it. Please any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks, Matt.

Hey, Matt. It's the blade - the set of the teeth are wrong, damaged, worn or different. These small saws are very temperamental and not tolerant of cutting thick stuff unless the blade is perfect. Most often these blades are extremely thin and the factory setting of the teeth is questionable. All you can do is make sure you have adequate tension and that your guide blocks and tracking are right. You are not going to find the good stuff at the box stores. Start here, http://www.woodcraft.com/search/search.aspx?query=bandsaw+blades
Look into getting some higher quality blades - you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Don. We've got a Woodcraft in Knoxville. Few miles up the road. I'll definitely check em out. What's a reaonable price for a good blade?

Good blades for the most popular size bandsaws are going to be in the $20-$40 range.

Surely you don't mean a 3" bandsaw!

Yep, 3". Just a wee lil bugger. Good for what I do though.

Perhaps you are referring to the maximum cutting height?

Generally the measurement associated with band saws is from the frame to the blade. Ryobi makes 9" & 10" band saws. The better quality blades that Don referred to in his post are hard to come by for that size saw.
