Had to make the front jaw for the end vise 35" long X 7" wide & 3" thick with 2.5 degress tapered dog holes.
Made a sled jig to rout in the 2 degree taper grove. Used wedges to glue to the jig for the taper.

Made wedges for the grove side face of the front jaw, to stay the same angle as the grove so the dogs fit with little wiggle.

Glued it together & drilled the holes, per instructions, I ran it thru the planer to get a 2 degree taper on the face so the top closes first. (double sided tape with a 3/16 strip on outside bottom edge then planed)
Assembled & adjusted for fairly smoothe operation. The Speed knob is nice to have.

Made the smaller quick release front vise, front jaw, basically the same (18-1/2") without the dog holes. Drilled it fitted to benchtop. (Added a 1" space underside of top to get 1" more usable jaw depth)

Ready to take it all apart & & assemble the final time. Notice the saw burn mark? Any ideas of how to fix? (first big cut with new table saw & started it in crooked, bummer)

Now that's a purty bench... I'd be afraid to use it!

Wow, a work of art. As far as the burn mark, either a Dutchman (wood patch or plug) or sand it off - that'll teach you to pause when feeding, huh?

You might wanna look into reinforcing your shop's foundation. :D That dude looks heavy. Great work man, sweet bench. Makes me ashamed of my plywood one. Guess it's time to get busy.
