Howdy folks,
I'm a woodworker and carpenter, been earning my keep that way for 25 years or so. For about ten years I did primarily architectural woodwork and cabinetry in my home shop - for the last six or so I've been doing more renovation and building with the shopwork for my own projects rather than as a subcontractor.
I got by for years with cheap grizzly shop-tools, all I could afford at the time. Gradually I acquired a Mini-max combo jointer/planer with the mortising attachment (very happy with that), a used Jet 3-horse table-saw, used powermatic bandsaw and drill-press. I bought a new Delta 3hrs shaper way back when they had a big sale on them. That and the corregated head turned out to be one of my better investments. I've also got a bunch a massive old equipment in a pole barn in florida collecting massive amounts of rust.....
I would describe myself as a low-tech woodworker, I tend to do mostly one-offs so it doesn't pay to make elaborate set-ups. In many cases the quickest way will involve hand tools in part of the process.
I hope to be out of professional woodworking within about 5-10 years, and start doing homesteading full time.........
