I had all my tools to the new shop before winter got here & have been dreading taking everything off the walls in the garage. But finally got it done & now this is the project. When I built the garage in 1983, I was in a hurry due to winter coming so I elected to not tape & paint & moved in. Bad mistake. Tons of nail & screw hole to repair. Now that I moved out to the new shop my wife "insists" I finally finish the garage. So if you stop by & I'm not in the shop, look here.
When she's not looking I sneek out & work on the workbench a little;)

I got to the corner by the heater & found the heater fire box leaking. It's only 20 years old, come on, don't they make things to last. The furnace guys says it's a must to put in a new one, carbon monoxide safety thing. (glad the new saw has been shipped) I ordered a Reznor 45,000 BTU. Be here tomorrow. (one in Anchorage) Will need new mounting hangers but can use the existing exhaust pipe. Hopefully I'll have it hung & working in a few hours before it gets too cold to work.
The plywood on the wall by the window is covering a hole that happened one Christmas morning in a wind storm, a tree came through the wall. Ive since repaired the outside & vinal sided but the hole on the inside is hidden by the plywood. Clever eh?

As for the tape & mud job. I like the new metal inside corners. I plan to use a hopper texture gun for texturing. Move everything out that I can & covering the rest, fire up the airless, prime & paint.
Any tips on tape & texturing?
Should I prime (1 or 2 coats) with "kiltz" since the sheetrock is old & dirty?

Kilz is very good stuff, but expensive. From the photos, it looks like you may not need to, but primer really well before painting. Maybe use Kilz on spots that really need it.

Oh the other thing about texturing. You can add your primer with your texture, or are you going to do that anyway? Saves time, may further obviate the need for kilz. I actually added the paint to my texture before slopping it on the wall in the addition.

That's a good idea. I'll try that. Paint instead of water right?
One more question, I have a hopper texture gun. How soupy do I mix the mud? (no instructions with the texture gun). Mix some & do a practice shot was going to be my approach but since you've done it, I thought I'd ask.
