Hey:

I want to build a simple table, on wheels that I can drop my miter saw down into so it will be level with the table. Then I want an insert so if not using the saw, I can drop in and use the table as a flat surface. The table would be about 96" x 24" and I plan on the top being OSB.. I think?
Now, I have a simple plan for the table, I just can't visualize how to make the shelf, so to speak under the table to hold the saw.. I also can't figure out how to attach this shelf so to speak to the underneath side of the table.. Know what I mean? DO I notch out the 4/4"s that I am using for the legs?
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks and take care
Dan

Do you have enough room to pivot it in the middle & just roll it over? Saw one in Fine Woodworking, Let me go look. "Tools & Shops" annual issue #195. Got mgazine at Costco but still be on the shelves till March at the loacal magazine rack.
(page 51) I'm looking at it now.
This guys planer height matches his table saw for outfeed. It's on 3" locking casters.
Pretty cool. Tried to get to it online but they want you to suscribe. Anyway it may give you some ideas.

Hey, Dan. Here is a quickie idea. Since you mentioned simple and OSB this thing is more utilitarian than being a work of art or taking forever to build. It has a couple of neat features worth thinking about.

Top frame is 2x4, allow enough room in center section width for the chop saw plus two layer osb plus an 1-1/2" for side cleats, then add a little for wiggle room. Bottom frame is similar outside dimensions. The 4x4 fit inside the corners. The center section is a couple of panels, drilled for adjustable shelf pins or screws and cleats. These side panels are fastened to the inside members of the top frame and on top of the bottom frame and OSB shelf. The saw rests on a 3/4" plywood shelf, when you remove the saw, you can bring up that shelf and rest it on the side cleats, completing your work surface. If you fasten the saw to that shelf, then it is a simple matter to have yet another shelf sitting underneath it to use for the same purpose. Matter of fact, that would give a little more support to the saw. This design allows for adjusting the shelf up and down for any future needs as well. A simple design that you could build in a weekend.
