I am making a large plywood cabinet for tools and storage in the garage. All the parts are cut, and I am sanding it before priming and painting.

I really hate sanding.

Just wanted to vent. Sorry for the wasted click, everyone.

If it's just for the garage -- why sand?

Allot (most) of the cabinets & drawers in my shop are made of plywood. (AC)
I got allot of splinters while making it. I gave it one coat of cheap paint first then sanded it just enough to knock off the rough bumps & splinters, then one more coat of paint.
This really helped prevent splinters

As bogydave noted, it's mostly to remove splinters. Plus it's kinda big, and it's going to be very prominent in the garage so...figured at least sanding to medium grit would look nice.

Hey old_guy, From one old_guy to another, and I hope this does not sound to ass nine, always remmeber if you want to get better at what you do then always do it the best you can. When it comes to plywood that means sand it down, ban the edges and to a proper finish. You will learn from everything you do. And your shop will look better for it and it will be more fun to work in.
