Hiya fellas! I am not exactly the best wood worker but tell me if this is an easy project. I am going to build a cat litter tray box. I want to put a small pet door in my laundry room that leads to my garage. The pet door will lead to a small room for the kitties and their litter tray. I want to make sure that the kitties cannot gain access to the garage itself, all while the box room I make them will be in garage. I'll insulate the kitty door, and put a little light in the box. Anyone ever done something like this?

No, never tried it but sounds like a pretty good idea. Just make sure you put an access door from the garage to be able to chnge the litter.
You know I might have to do this for my wifes cat, then I can get it out of our bathroom.

That is exactly why I am doing this. We bought the house, then got some awesome kittens and we had the litter box in my daughters bathroom. I want to get the box outta my daughters bathroom....she will be thrilled when I get this done. I'll take some pics and keep you all posted!
Hey, 4re. I know that people are getting tired of me saying this, but, I've done this too. First marriage, 1976, we bought a mobile home instead of paying rent. Built a little garage on the side of the unit. We had two Persians. Small place with no room for a cat box or the smell. I made a pet door, short tunnel, plywood box with 2-1/2" holes around the top perimeter and a hinged lid.
In short it worked like a champ. Kept the smell out of the house, they didn't have the fancy litters that they do today back then. The cats learned to use it quickly, there was enough room for the tray and space in front of it. The cats would use it to hide in when they wanted to. This was the only problem. If they were bad for some reason, they would run to the hiding place before you could get to them. :o
All in all a great idea and worth the effort. An easy project with the pet doors that they have today, the rest of the project is straight forward box building. Good luck.
Let us know how it works out.
All the best, Don

Thanks everyone! Sounds like a plan, I'm going to do it. The kittens love treats so much, I don't think we will have a problem training them to use the kitty door. I'm excited about attempting this. I'll keep you all posted and thanks for your replies guys. Great site you got here! :)

Thats no problem. We installed a cat door in our gameroom which is attached to the house but is still seperated by the existing doors. Once you push them through a couple of time to show them what its all about, they will use it. Ours have just about worn out the plexiglass door, can't hardly see through it anymore.
