I'm aligning the saw blade of my Powermatic 66 to the left miter slot using the A-Line-It dial indicator. The rear of the blade (same tooth rotated) is .005 out of alignment with the front. Is this too little to worry about or should I adjust the table so the differential is zero?

I would greatly appreciate the wisdom of you sage wood workers. Thank you kindly.

Hey, Dooley, 5 thousandths I wouldn't worry about for using the miter gauge. Make sure the rip fence is close to the actual blade though, I actually like the rip fence to be out (away) from the back side of the blade by a fraction; you don't want the pieces binding between the backside of the blade and the fence. A piece that binds here can be lifted off the table and turned into a Frisbee. (the above considers the rip fence to the right of the blade)

I don't have my calipers with me, but I think a piece of paper is about .003 - you should be fine for woodworking. If you are a stickler though, you will find that to make this adjustment, the entire saw carriage will need to be loosened from the top on the underside. It'll be trial and error to get it right and .005 is pretty small. In all my years of messing with the major brands this is not an adjustment that I've had to make. This is a pretty basic no-brainier for them. Unless yours has been damaged or repaired or course.

Have fun, be safe

All the best, Don

Don, thank you for your reply. A human hair is about .003 in thickness...I appreciate your guidance. That was my inclination but thought I would see what others think. I didn't really want to mess with the table. dooley58

I thought the 66 was a cabinet saw?
If so, you just loosen the top and move it.
4 bolts-pretty simple.
(that's the advantage of a cabinet saw vs contractor)

Too right, too right, JC. I stand corrected. It's been a while since I've been into one of 'em.

I have to agree with Don, I don't think I would worry with .005.
