This is dad's X-mas present for her! I believe the wood is Pelonia. The entire thing as it stands weighs about 3lbs!

Purty! Looks like white pine or even poplar from here but with more pronounced grain... similar in characteristics?

It's supposed to be a hardwood, but it's VERY lights, and is about as soft as Pine, so I'm not sure I'd consider it a hardwood, but it works/sands/stains up very nicely.

A corner what-not shelf? Looking good. Will the doors be glass encased?

Yup. Dad has some new-fangled method for mounting glass that we've never tried before, and needed a project to test it on.
